1956 Chevy Nomad Wagon
The 1956 Nomad was an amazing looking car, flared fins and unmistakable styling. This was a project in which we were to go out and buy a car model kit of our choice, and assemble it. Easy enough right? well the next step was to draw the car in proper perspective. A ridiculous task which took many revisions and a lot of starting over. Once we had every single detail of the car drawn in perfect perspective we could then begin to render it with any media we wished to use. I had started off with pencil, and ended up using a few graphic markers in the end. The results turned out great for a rendering by hand.
The third part of the project required us to scan the original drawings, then render them in computer space. Having a diverse knowledge of programs i sought out to utilize a few different features of some of them. For example, i was unhappy with my shaky line drawing, so i decided to tighten up the lines in illustrator. This provided me with an excellent outline of the vehicle without any shaky lines. The rendering itself was done entirely in Corel Draw, which was a program i found to be quite powerful and feature rich. I highly recommend it. The finished renders were printed and displayed and critiqued afterwards.
