iroda – Micro Jet Concepts
This is a third year Industrial Design project based on becoming familiar with human factors and user centered design. With this we were to pick an object ( i chose the iroda micro jet – basically a multi-purpose jet lighter) then had to use multiple qualitative and quantitative research techniques to find what was wrong with the original design, what kind of things should be changed and why. Questionnaires were passed out asking opinions on comfort levels, usability, aesthetics and many other things, in the end leading to a re-design of the object based on input from users instead of aesthetics alone. With all this data and research i came up with the design you see below. Easy to use, ergonomic, safe, and stylish. Browse through the PowerPoint slides below for full details.
As a side note, all concepts were completed by hand with pencil, then scanned and manipulated in photoshop.
