Packaging: Motorola Headset

Graphic Design, Industrial Design Comments Off

For a 3rd year design class one project we had to complete was to select a small object, then create some kind of attractive, eye catching yet functional packaging for it. I had chosen the Motorola blue-tooth headset this time around. The packaging was to be designed on the computer using corel draw, and was to include tabs and folded areas to hold it together with minimal adhesives. The project turned out to be a nightmare as there are many factors involved that effect the over all outcome. paper thicknesses, adhesive thicknesses, crease lines, tab angles – they all compounded to make aligning things difficult. Aside from the package itself which had a clear front with a flap that opened and was held shut with Velcro, there was an insert in which the item was held secure, and the instruction manual was neatly tucked. the design of the box remained bright but professional looking and followed the companies style.
